These photographs are part of an ongoing series shot in southeastern Appalachia.I am fascinated with what my subjects reveal about the layers of the United States' consumer culture.

When the "American Dream" is unattainable as a whole what parts of it do appear in these isolated pockets? What emerges in my photographs are Spice Girl posters, Jesus, satellite dishes, Barbie, and Elvis intermingled with a distinct sense of regional identity.
